MANHEIM · HOW TO BUY

How to buy a car on Manheim without being a dealer

Manheim is the largest wholesale car auction in the US and it sells to licensed dealers only. A private buyer gets in through a dealer. This is how buying on Manheim actually works, step by step, and how to get your own access.

Direct access to Copart, IAAI and Manheim for $100. Not a broker bidding for you: your own login on the three official auction sites, under our Florida dealer license. You see every lot, you place every bid, you keep full control. No dealer license needed, no membership. The $100 is one-time and is credited toward your deposit and your car.

Who can register on Manheim

Manheim registration requires an active motor vehicle dealer license and an AuctionACCESS ID, the industry credential that verifies a dealership. There is no public buyer tier, no “no license required” filter and no membership you can pay for. If you do not hold a dealer license, you buy through one, and that is what BasicMobile provides: your own bidder access under our Florida dealer license.

Three ways cars sell on Manheim

  • In-lane: physical auctions at Manheim locations, with Simulcast streaming the same lane online.
  • Simulcast: live online bidding with audio and video of the lane; you bid in real time against dealers in the room and online.
  • OVE (Online Vehicle Exchange): a 24/7 online marketplace with Buy Now prices and offers, no live auction needed.

Your BasicMobile access covers OVE and Simulcast, so you can buy at a fixed price or in a live sale.

Reading a Manheim listing

  • Condition report and grade: most lots have an inspection report with a grade; read it together with the photos and the announcements (frame, structural, odometer).
  • Title status: Manheim inventory is mostly clean-title lease returns, trade-ins and fleet vehicles; check for title absent or title delay notes.
  • Price type: current bid, floor price, or Buy Now on OVE.
  • Location and fees: the selling location sets the buyer fee; transport is from that yard.

Step by step with BasicMobile

  1. Pay $100. Your access to Manheim, Copart and IAAI is issued within 12 hours, usually within minutes. Browse first; try it for 24 hours for $10 if you like.
  2. Pick a car on OVE or in an upcoming Simulcast sale and send us the link for a delivered estimate.
  3. Put the Manheim deposit on file: 50% of your bid limit, your $100 included.
  4. Bid yourself or buy at the OVE price. When you win we invoice you (card, Zelle or wire), pay Manheim within its deadline and handle the title and transport.

With BasicMobile you get Manheim access the only way a private buyer can: your own bidder access under our Florida dealer license, together with Copart and IAAI. You log in to the official Manheim site and app, read the condition reports and bid yourself. We pay the auction, reassign the title to you and coordinate transport.

  • One-time $100 opens your own bidder account on Copart, IAAI and Manheim under our Florida dealer license; it is credited toward your deposit and your car.

Manheim or Copart?

Manheim is for clean-title cars you can register right away, at wholesale prices. Copart and IAAI are for damaged and salvage cars at a deeper discount. Your account covers all three; see Copart vs Manheim.
