Copart deposit: how much you need and how refunds work

A deposit is not a fee. It sets how high you can bid and is applied to the car when you win. Here is how it works on Copart directly and through a dealer-license account.

Direct access to Copart, IAAI and Manheim for $100. Not a broker bidding for you: your own login on the three official auction sites, under our Florida dealer license. You see every lot, you place every bid, you keep full control. No dealer license needed, no membership. The $100 is one-time and is credited toward your deposit and your car.

Deposit directly on Copart

Copart Basic members must place a deposit to bid above $2,000 on any vehicle; Premier members keep one refundable deposit on file. Copart lets you request a refund of a security deposit from your account page as long as it is not tied to an outstanding bid or unpaid fees. If you win and do not pay within 8 calendar days, the relist fee (10% of the sale price, $600 minimum) is taken from your deposit.

Deposit through BasicMobile

  • Copart and IAAI: 10% of your bid limit, with a $600 minimum.
  • Manheim: 50% of your bid limit.
  • Your first $100 opens the account and counts toward the deposit. For a $6,000 limit on Copart that is $500 more after the $100.
  • Bidding is enabled once the required total deposit is confirmed. You can browse before that.
Bid limit → deposit (Copart / IAAI)
$3,000 → $600 · $6,000 → $600 · $10,000 → $1,000 · $20,000 → $2,000

What happens to the deposit when you win

We apply the deposit to the purchase and invoice the remaining balance: vehicle price, Copart fees, our service fee, and any title or transport costs you ordered. Copart requires full payment within 3 business days including the sale day, so the balance is due quickly. We pay the auction; auctions do not accept third-party payments on a dealer account, so the money goes through us.

Refunds

The first $100 is credited toward your car; if you never buy a car it is not refundable. Any additional bidding deposit can be returned on request by WhatsApp or email, less money needed for a won vehicle or unpaid charges. Placing a bid that does not win does not block a refund. Full conditions are in the Terms of Service.
